1. Not making it dynamic
Far too many use their websites as a glorified brochure sitting still and static on the web hoping somebody will find them. When a website sits there, it often loses its ranking and positioning very quickly in a world where there are websites that are dynamic and constantly changing. A successful website is updated frequently and continues to attract search engine spiders and visitors by being dynamic. A simple solution is to add a blog to your website and update it often.
