Sometimes You Need to Just “Stop”
I am a big fan of Scott Stratten of UnMarketing. Although we have never met, what I am a big fan of, is Scott’s realness in the way he teaches and promotes his message. I came across this post from him and it brought me to tears. Scott’s story is one that many can relate to – the super ambitious, black berry junkies and people on the go all should take a moment and review this video and take another moment to “stop” and reflect on your own life.

52 Weeks of Greatness – Week 1: Dedication
Aim High, Use Powerful Resolve, and Stand Firm
As we enter a new year and commit to our professional and personal resolutions there is one word that comes to mind: Dedication. Dedication is focusing your energy and all of your efforts on a task or to a particular course of action until they are complete. No exceptions and no matter what challenges or obstacles we must overcome.
When you think of professional athletes, mega stars or business icons; you naturally think of success and achievement. What most people don’t realize is the journey that all of those folks had to take to get to where they are today included obstacles, challenges and hard times. All of them started exactly where you are now and did not get to where they are simply because of skill, talent or luck but with a combination of those things led by fierce determination and a commitment to making things happen. How to be in charge of your life!
Each year many of us set out with the greatest of intentions as we proclaim our New Year’s Resolutions, but in order for us to know what we want to change, we must conduct a complete analysis of our lives and assess what we like, what we don’t, and more importantly what we want to change. If you were asked to reflect on your life would you find that you have been living in your life every day in complete control of it? Or would you be settling for the status quo only hoping something would change? Here are five ways to be completely in charge of your life and loving it!
1. Find role models
Our circle of influence is very important to how we view our lives. There are three types of people that you can choose to surround yourself with. Those that build you up and create a positive energy that motivates you every day to propel forward or those that drain you and create a negative energy that deflates you every day and holds you back from reaching your goals and those that are neutral and do not do anything for you nor take anything from you. Find role models that inspire you when you are with them and surround yourself with people who encourage you to succeed and who you feel you can inspire yourself.
2. Trust your inner voice – look within
Chances are that you already know your life purpose. You already know the path that you need to be on but do not act upon it. Some call it that “little voice” that lives inside. When you are on your true path, you will be energized, happy and focused. Most times, we know what will make us happy but are just afraid to take the necessary steps to make change in our lives. Trust you inner voice and it will lead you to your true destiny.
3.Be strategic about your choices
Our lives are a result of the choices that we make every day. When you are presented with choices, be strategic and think about what it is you want to achieve in life and determine if that particular choice fits into your grand plan. Most of us go through life either on autopilot on doing what is expected of us rather than thinking about what we really want and building the path to get there. Think of every decision, every choice strategically and how the result will move you closer to the life of your dreams.
4. Act Courageously and take risks
Life is about not being afraid to take risks and trying something new. It is about being opened to opportunities and having many experiences in life. Act courageously and try something new every day. Something that will expand your world and create lasting memories. Do not settle for the status quo and do not follow the flock. Expand your horizon, experience new things and take risks.
5. Love, Laugh and Live!
The last tip is to love, laugh and live. Simply open yourself to experience love; to experience laughter and to experience life. Don’t be too serious that you forget to find the humor in things and live life to its fullest every day. Be playful and be happy. There are many opportunities for you to not only enjoy humor but to create humor. Be sure to be light hearted and share your joy.
7 Tips to Get Your Year in Gear!
What a year! Many of us have had ups and downs with the fluctuating economy, declining housing marketing,
rising unemployment, stricter lending and a divided political climate. Too often when we are overwhelmed by outside events, we have a tendency to retreat into the comforts of the status quo and wallowing in our depression. Now it is time to get your year in gear and join The 94 Day Challenge. Here are 7 tips to help you get started.
1. Hang around the right people.
Motivation comes in many forms but the strongest will come from your circle of influence. Surround yourself with positive people who build up your self esteem and challenge you to succeed. The best way to do this is to find others who are like minded and who have either achieved what you are trying to achieve or have already accomplished your goal. These are the cheerleaders who will keep you strong especially when times get tough.
2. Hold yourself accountable.
Accountability is the strongest tool you can use in goal achievement. People with integrity keep their promises so make yourself a promise and hold yourself to it. A simple way is to create milestones and deadlines that you hold yourself responsible for meeting. If you need some additional help, than find an accountability partner who can be your support buddy and share the responsibility of reaching your goals with them.
3. Set realistic expectations.
Super achievers set realistic expectations and meet them each and every time. To be truly successful in goal achievement, you must be realistic in your expectations. Make sure your actual goal and the timeframe you select is within reason. When you don’t, you are sure to face frustration and failure.
4. Find a deep reason to make change.
For goals to be reached you must really want it. Want it so bad that there is a deep burning desire. This desire keeps you focused and motivated. In order for your reason to be deep enough, you must reach down into your soul and select a reason that is personal enough.
5. Manage your subconscious
Most of us never reach our goals because we do not manage our subconscious brains. Our subconscious is our protector and hates change. In order to get your year in gear, you must master this part of your brain and you must manage fear. Fear is the number one reason people do not seize the day.
6. Take Action!
The number one secret of all successful people is that they take action and they take it every day without exception. They set realistic goals, stay focused on them, knows the deep reasons they want to reach them and are not afraid to take action.
7. Take The 94 Day Challenge

3 Essential Elements to a Life of Fulfillment
Leading a life of fulfillment may sound easier than it is to achieve, but the truth is that e very person has within them, the abilities to live a life of purpose and fulfillment. We each know what makes us happy and what we need to do to find our right path but we are often overwhelmed with fear and social conditioning that our actions are immobilized and we find ourselves doing the same things we have always done or just doing enough to get buy. Each leading to the same result – a life of mediocrity.
Although there are numerous recommendations out there to help you create a fulfilling life, I believe that there are three essential elements that must exist in everyone’s life in order to truly be happy.
1. Willingness to Explore New Opportunities – It is human nature to be curious and to want more – it is the American Dream. Open yourself up to new opportunities and watch your life change. Don’t be afraid to dance to your own music and to try new things. These are the experiences that make up life; embrace them and you will be one step further to fulfillment.
2. Trusting and Meaningful Relationships - As human beings, we have a natural instinct to be social and to connect with others. Those that are happy and fulfilled surround themselves with friends, family and associates whom they have a relationship with. These relationships can only be formed by creating an environment of trust and integrity; a give and take balance that generates mutual interest, empathy and understanding. Reach out to belong and connect with others to create a large circle of people who inspire you and you will be one step further to fulfillment.
3. Doing Work You Love – How many times do you find yourself miserable or making comments about hating your work? Than you are not doing the work you are meant to be doing. When you are working in a career that you love, you know! You are energized, inspired and excited each and every day and you eventually get to the point where calling it work just seems wrong. Take a moment to reflect on when the last time you felt good – were you doing a specific task? Was there something you really, really enjoyed? That is the work you should be doing. Find a career that uses those skills and makes you feel great and you will be one step further to fulfillment.
Leading a life of fulfillment requires commitment and focus towards improvement. It requires the courage to overcome fears and to challenge yourself to take action. It is an ongoing process that will be tested often but by surrounding yourself with people who you love and trust, experiencing new things and finding work that inspires you, you will be well on your way to your destination.
